The set, used now in all three plays, created by Bartley H. The rivalry, for example, between Edison and Tesla is well known to historians and MacGregor cleverly mines that to tell this story. His attention to research, characterization and the cadences he creates for Holmes are spot on for Sherlock fans. In the earlier plays, he involved Vincent Van Gogh, King Edward VII, Auguste Escoffier, Prince Albert, and so on. MacGregor is a clever playwright, using historic figures in all three of the plays to create at atmosphere of familiarity in the play for the audience.

Sarab Kamoo has been Holmes love interest Irene Adler in all three plays. Paul Stroili reprises his role as Watson. Audiences need not have seen the earlier two plays in order to follow and appreciate the story. And while this play references the earlier stories a couple of times, this installment of the trilogy stands on its own. Some of the actors have played the same roles in all three Holmes plays– Sherlock Holmes and The Adventure of the Elusive Ear, and Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of The Fallen Souffle. P.S.MacGregor’s script is taut and definitely worthy of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. So do yourself a favor - save your money and buy this coat. This is a legitimate overcoat here - it is NOT just a costume piece. But consider this: If you were to walk into any men's store and buy a similar, professionally made overcoat, I guarantee it would cost you $800+ there and it wouldn't be made out of faux suede either. Was $850 a lot to spend on a single clothing item? Yes. You will not be disappointed in the slightest. If you are looking for the most screen-accurate and widely-available option for the Tennant overcoat, buy this one. But this was an easy fix - I brought it to a local dry cleaner and had it professionally pressed. My only *minor* issue was that one of the lapels was creased shorter than the other due to how it was folded in the packaging. But I'm pretty sure the number of people who would notice this in person is probably less than 1 in 5000. The only tiny difference is that the pocket lining on the inside is the same material as the outside of the coat rather than the slightly orange-tone fabric used in the original. In terms of screen accuracy, all the pockets are spot-on. The pockets themselves are quite deep and have plenty of room for all of your gadgets. The coat has four pockets - two angled flap pockets on the outside and two breast pockets on the inside. The length of the coat from top to bottom is perfect as well (just make sure your measurement of your total height is accurate). I wanted the sleeves to come down to just above my knuckles when my arms were hanging at my sides, and they do just that. So, for this coat, I took the measurements off a well-fitting leather jacket that I had and added a bit of length to the sleeves. The first coat I ordered from buyitjnow had sleeves a bit too short and ended up showing my shirt cuffs sometimes. I took one photo of the fabric with flash and two without in slightly different lightings to try and give you the best representation of what the texture actually looks like in person.Ībsolutely perfect and just what I was hoping for - a nice trim fit coat that still has enough room to be comfortable when wearing it over a suit (versus just over a shirt).Ī note: I recommend you add a little more length than you think you might need to your sleeve measurements. I had no idea that the original lining even had a striped weave until I saw an extreme close-up photo of a swatch of it. I think it may be a teeny-tiny bit darker than the original, and it doesn't have the subtle stripe in it, but neither of those things bother me. The color and texture of the fabric seriously looks exactly like the original Alcantara fabric.Īs far as the lining goes, the navy blue satin is excellent.

It has plenty of flowy-ness and "swoosh" to it to give you that sort of superhero-cape-type feeling when you're walking or standing in the wind. This one feels like a real proper overcoat - one that I could wear in colder weather - yet not as thick and heavy as wool so I won't be sweating like a pig at conventions.

In terms of thickness/weight, the coat is definitely a step up from the first one I had. It is an upholstery material (much like the original), and it is ridiculously soft and comfortable. I can't even begin to express how happy I am with Indy's faux suede fabric. As you can imagine, I wanted my new coat to be as screen accurate as possible, and the fabric was a major point for that. Let the review begin!Īs I said earlier, I chose the faux suede version of the coat versus the "typical overcoat" wool/cashmere blend fabric. After much thought, I decided to sell that coat and spend some extra coin on Indy's version.
